Top Drop Winemakers' Dinner: Indigenous Wines of Italy


Join Wine Director and 2017 ‘Sommelier of the Year’ Lisa Haley and the L’Abattoir team at this special winemakers’ dinner exploring indigenous wines of northern and southern Italy. Hosted as part of the annual Top Drop Vancouver wine festival, the evening will feature guests from two Italian wineries who will showcase and discuss local grape varieties from their respective regions.

Giuseppe Gullo, manager of Masseria Li Veli, joins us from Puglia in the south of Italy. With a unique focus on rediscovery, wines from Masseria Li Veliare produced exclusively using ancient Apulian grape varieties indigenous to the region, which are cultivated in their most suitable terroirs in keeping with traditional methods.  

From the north, we welcome Maddalena Pasqua di Bisceglie, owner of Musella. One of only a handful of biodynamic wineries in the Veneto and Maddalena regions, the winery is part of the twelve 'Families of Amarone' working to protect the quality and brand of their most famous wine.

Wines will be thoughtfully paired with a canapé reception and four-course menu prepared by L’Abattoir Chef and Co-owner Lee Cooper and Chef de Cuisine Jack Chen.

Tickets are $160 per person, all inclusive of menu, wines, taxes and gratuity, with $10 from each ticket donated to the BC Hospitality Foundation, the charitable beneficiary of Top Drop Vancouver.
